Coastal dune plants are extremely tough and salt tolerant. Ground covers, shrubs and small trees, these plants provide structure to the dunes and habitat to many birds, insects and wildlife.
Ground covers spread along the ground and help prevent sand drift. They also attract and feed insects and lizards.
There are many shrubs in the dune system that provide berries and cover for wildlife such as the Painted Dragon and the Eastern Brown Snake.
Trees and grasses provide food and shelter for birds and wildlife and help stabilise the dunes.
